AKCO Newsletter 3/12/2016.
As we fast approach the end of the year 2016, we are very grateful and do sincerely appreciate all those who have worked tirelessly and so selflessly in Kenya, Germany and Australia to make things happen the way they have for AKCO.
The AKCO Germany chapter held a successful fund raising and awareness creating event which managed to raise enough money to hire a new teacher at the school for the coming year, 2017! A big thank you to AKCO Director in Germany Birgit Eger and her friends for all the hard work and sacrifice they all put to make this happen.
We give big thanks to Sue of the Whitecliffs Beach Resorts, Rye for facilitating a donation of 20 more double bed mattresses from the Whitecliffs resort., including doonas and doona covers as well as pillows and bed covers etc. Lots of thanks to Peter Huggan who coordinated the whole exercise including collection, transport handling and storage of the mattresses.
We would like to recognise and give massive thanks to all those delivering Donations In Kind (DIK) to our Carrum Downs and Tootgarook collection points. Special thanks to:
Joanne Arends Maas for 6 Men’s designer suits.
Joanne Carns for 6 bags of clothes.
Pauline Cock for 4 bags of boys clothes, a bag of ladies clothes and a bag of shoes plus other accessories.
Many thanks to Andrea Puddy, Director. Goodstart Early Learning Frankston together with colleagues, children and parents for their donations in kind of another car load of donations comprising bags of adults men and ladies clothes, baby clothes and toys, shoes, jumpers, sports shoes and jackets etc.
Judy Lyew for a Grundig music system and a cash donation towards a Marquee tent for AKCO outdoor events.
Geoff Bartlett for facilitating donations of a stack of carpet rolls.
Many thanks to Julie Kerdel for the hard work and networking she’s done to facilitate a second sausage sizzles fund raising event for AKCO at the Bunnings Carrum Downs stores to be held on the 1.1.2017; look out for more details coming soon on the ‘AKCO Facebook’ events section if you would like to support/ participate in this event.
We thank those who have already put up their hands to volunteer and support the forthcoming sausage sizzles fund raising event for AKCO that will take place at the Woollies Supermarkets, Patterson Lakes on the 11.12.2016.

Please note that tax receipts that can be lodged with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for tax claims can be issued for any cash donations of $2 and above, let us know if you would require a tax receipt for this purpose.
Some updates from Kenya is that work on the development and building of an Eco Camp has already commenced at Camp Lolgorian in the Maasai Mara. We give special thanks to the Matabariba Bio- Construction group led by Kimberley Mwamburi, Billy Blunt and Tin Man amongst others. We also wish to reconise and thank all the volunteers who have traveled from far and wide to join in this work and help in the very exciting ‘Earth Bag Building’ of the camp.
